The journey to Siegfried’s Schwert (sword) may be easy, but it’s the challenge of the puzzle that needs to be slain to claim this Geocache of the Week.

There are said to be dragons in these woods, but according to legend, Siegfreid took down the region’s dragon, Fafnir—the only problem is, he lost his sword shortly after, and it’s been lost for centuries. It’s up to you and your crew to find Siegfried’s sword Balmung, as it may hold the key to claiming the find on this highly valuable cache.

The lush green forest set the perfect scene for a majestic quest. Not too deep into the forest, a geocacher can easily spot the place of the treasure and uncover the sword quickly, due to their magical abilities to find lost treasures in the woods. Although you proved yourself by finding the sword, you have not proven yourself worthy to log this noble geocache.

The sword contains clues to crack the riddle and will allow you to open the heavy locks protecting the scroll and valuable items inside. The craftsmanship of the sword is of the highest degree, and the treasure is fit for royalty. Those who log this find are said to be immortalized forever (on the cache page).

With almost 7,000 logged visits and 4200 Favorite points, this geocache deserves to be knighted. Hidden in 2017 by cache owners ‘die Helden’ und ‘werner 54’ in Hesse, Germany, Sieffrieds Schwert is a great example of crafting something special for all to enjoy. What’s next for you?
